Highlights of ICDS:

ICDS’ qualified, interdisciplinary current and former faculty has served as Government Officials, Ambassadors, and Diplomats in Costa Rica and other countries

  1. Laura Chinchilla, former first female President of Costa Rica taught a course with ICDS before her term in office.

  2. Jairo Hernández, Ambassador of Costa Rica in Australia and Singapore, and Deputy  Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

  3. Yanina Rovinski, Minister Counselor at the Costa Rican Embassy in France.

  4. Jorge Nowalski, Minister Counselor at the Costa Rican Embassy in England, Presidential Advisor for the Costa Rican government.

Highlights of Alumni:

  1. Mike Norman – WeFunder Founder and President.

  2. Ximena Tovar – Program Manager in Global Health at Harvard Medical School.

  3. Nikolas E. Erwin – former student from Suffolk University who became a major driving force with the fresh produce trucks in Boston and worked as  Cropswap Coordinator and Program Rover with Produce Good.

Highlights of Costa Rica:

  1. ICDS has been providing Study Abroad programs for over 21 years AND our entire staff is fully bilingual and multicultural!

  2. Costa Rica has had no Army since 1948.

  3. Its Universal Healthcare system.

  4. Home to 1 of the 5 top Blue Zones in the world.

  5. Taking up only .03% of the earth’s surface, CR contains 6% of the world’s Biodiversity (+12 different microclimates!).

  6. Costa Rica received the 2020 United Nations award for Global Climate Action while continuing to *reverse* deforestation.

  7. Costa Rica became the first Central American country to join the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), an international forum to coordinate economic and social policies.
