During my time in Costa Rica I fell in love with landscapes I had never seen in Minnesota: oceans and mountains. Every weekend (a three day weekend as there are no Friday classes) was a chance to explore a new hiking trail, beach, or picnic spot. On the weekends I did not travel to the beach, I hiked the mountains surrounding San José—these were some of the best adventures I had during my stay. Maybe hiking will be a lifelong hobby of mine thanks to Costa Rica!

I loved my time in Costa Rica and am very thankful for the experience. I had the opportunity to take classes learning about the healthcare system, as well as participate in clinical rotations at a large public-private hospital in San Jose, shadowing medical doctors! Apart from class, I had an amazing time traveling around the country with new friends that I met during my time with ICDS! Pura Vida!

I came to Costa Rica alone and came back home befriending so many new, intelligent, and adventurous people. Being abroad really pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way. I was scared and nervous before coming, but everyone was so welcoming. Costa Rica was truly a life-changing experience for me and it made me realize how much more traveling I want to do in the future. Meeting new people and engaging in thought-provoking topics was the highlight of my time abroad in Costa Rica!

My time in Costa Rica was by far one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much about the healthcare system with direct hands-on experience in the clinics. I was able to fully immerse myself in the natural beauty and cultures in this country but most importantly I made memories and friendships that will last me a lifetime.
